Tyla arriving at Met Gala

Tyla Makes Her Met Gala Debut in a Sandy Balmain Body-Cast Gown.

he burgeoning South African pop star made her debut on the Met Gala carpet tonight, and her first time gracing the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art did not disappoint. For fashion’s biggest night, Tyla wore a floor-grazing full body-cast gown by Balmain in a cream hue. She kept her accessories minimal for the evening, opting for a lone silver diamond choker and a clear hourglass-shaped clutch, nodding toward the gala’s theme this year, “The Garden of Time.”

The “Water” singer also made a major beauty statement for her gala debut, switching out her signature bouncy curls for a sleek, layered bob. Ahead of hitting the carpet, Tyla told reporters her gown was inspired by “the sands of time”—hence, the on-the-nose handbag. And while the gown was an absolute head-turner, it didn’t leave much room for Tyla to move, which is why she had to be carried up the Met steps by an army of suited men (iconic) and later literally cut out of the dress with some scissors!
